The Pitch

Granary Studios if built would be a Public and Private partnership created to provide affordable housing, inclusive innovative incubator spaces providing future business and startups with career opportunities all within the multimedia community. Additionally, its proximity to the 900 South light rail stops will help to mitigate the need for expansive parking lots. It would create a walk-able street community with food stalls, and a large corner video wall that will pay homage to the area. The studio would repurpose the existing maintenance garages and offices into sustainably powered Sound stages and administration offices and additionally construct new structures to house production facilities. The studio would occupy approximately 60 % of site and be in the form of a long lease. The remaining 40 % would be divided into parcels and developed as affordable housing and entrepreneurial start up spaces for startup business's with mandates placed towards the design in conjunction to its location to a film studio.

ABOUT

The Granary Studios will occupy an 8-acre campus located 8 blocks south of downtown Salt Lake City and 10 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport with direct flights to Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta and internationally. Our campus will include three 15,500 sq ft sound stages with acoustically constructed walls and ceiling, five 16x16ft studio doors and 27ft ceilings, a 10,000 sq ft sound stage with green-screen, along with multiple 1,000 sq ft insert stages, and will be constructing standing sets including a police station, hospital, school, and an interior house. When completed it will have full production suites that can accommodate multiple large film and TV production office needs. For art departments, the facility would feature a drive-in construction room, props and art department stores, together with a full grip and electric package along with full catering on site. Outside, our facility boasts a lively street scene with entertainment, food stalls, music, mountain settings for all seasons, along with the finest skiing and numerous recreational opportunities for visiting artists, and a viable and welcoming city that can be used by productions. With plenty of locations within 15 minutes from the studio the only limit to what you can shoot is your imagination. The nature of the business will draw the concept of film tourism, where a series or movie will cause travelers to select our city because of a link to a series or film.
